Raleigh, NC -- 23 June 2004 -- Adrienne Kelly Lumpkin, president of converged communications company Alternate Access®, is the new president of the Greater Raleigh Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO).
Lumpkin is a nine-year member of NAWBO and has held positions as president-elect and special advisor to the president. She has also been active on NAWBO committees, including programs, communication and education and prepared the chapter's winning Healthy Chapter Award nomination.
Her lengthy resume reveals a woman with an entrepreneurial vision, business acumen and a strong commitment to community. In addition to running an award-winning company, she currently is also a member of the board of directors of the Raleigh Little Theatre and the Ligon Middle School Business Advisory Board. Past board positions include the National Black MBA Association, the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, the Business Advisory Board of Meredith College, the advisory board of the Minority Consulting Business Program at Duke's Fuqua School of Business, and the City Advisory Board of Mechanics & Farmers Bank.
Of her position as president of GR NAWBO, Lumpkin points to the chapter's mission as her focus for this year's activities. She says, "The mission of Greater Raleigh NAWBO is to 'facilitate the economic prosperity of a diverse membership of women business owners through mentoring, networking, education, and support.' Our organization is the voice for women in business, and this year we will be even more visible in the local community as we forge alliances with other organizations and garner high-level partnerships with local corporations. In addition, we will continue to open our arms to women at all stages of their businesses' development, advocate for their companies, and alert them to opportunities from which their businesses will benefit. This will be a great year for NAWBO." Lumpkin has developed her own mantra for the year, NAWBO: Connecting Women Business Owners, Creating Opportunities.
Lumpkin's term runs until June 2005.
