Wesleyan University Honors Adrienne Kelly Lumpkin With a Distinguished Alumna Award

Raleigh, NC -- 4 June 2004 -- Adrienne Kelly Lumpkin, President of converged communications company Alternate Access® and Incoming President of the Greater Raleigh Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), has been honored by her alma mater, Wesleyan University, with a Distinguished Alumni Award.

Lumpkin was one of five alumni from the class of 1979 so honored. She was present with her parents in Middletown, Connecticut to receive her award during the Wesleyan Assembly and Annual Meeting on Saturday, May 22.

Mrs. Lumpkin has received numerous awards and recognitions as an exceptional business leader and a role model for women since she graduated from Wesleyan. She has received the National Black MBA Association's most coveted honor, the H. Naylor Fitzhugh Award of Relevance and been recognized as one of the 10 most admired women in North Carolina by Business Leader Magazine.

Her community service includes board memberships for the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, Meredith College MBA Program, and the Minority Consulting Program at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business. She is the incoming president of the Greater Raleigh Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), an organization in which she has been active for the past nine years.

Graduating with a BS in psychology, Lumpkin continued her education, receiving an MBA from Harvard University. She spent 13 years in high-tech marketing and management with Hewlett- Packard and IBM before establishing Alternate Access with husband Kelly in 1994. They have three daughters, ages 24, 12, and 11, and one 2-year-old son.
