Raleigh, NC -- 11 October 2005 -- NAWBO-Raleigh Past President Adrienne K. Lumpkin has been elected to serve on the national nominating committee for NAWBO. She was elected by the 15 chapters of the Southeast Region, which encompasses Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Tennessee. As a member of the nominating committee, Adrienne will work from October through February to review nominations and interview candidates to serve on the National Board for terms beginning July 2006.
Adrienne joined NAWBO in 1995 and in the past ten years has served the Greater Raleigh Chapter on the membership, education, communication outreach, and nominating committees. She was elected President-elect in 2003 and moved into the President's chair for the 2004- 2005 organizational year. While president for NAWBO-Raleigh, membership grew over 20%; average attendance at meetings more than doubled; corporate sponsorships grew from $24K to $44K; racial diversity in both the membership and on the board saw a significant increase; and for the first time, a Women's Leadership Breakfast was organized to bring together the leaders of 20 Triangle women's organizations.
Adrienne says, "It is my commitment to the growth and vitality of women-owned businesses that propels my continued involvement in NAWBO. Experience has shown me that NAWBO is the perfect venue to affect national policy and to engage fellow women business owners in the dialog of achieving and nurturing success."
